Technical Notes
kneeling knight Bob's photos - samples
Experimenting with attempts to sharpen Bob's photos. The second shot, with camera shake, gave me a chance to play with Photoshop CS2's special smart sharpen filter that attempts to remove camera shake. There are many adjustments to that filter and I may not have selected the best.
kneeling knight PRELIMINARY Much work to be done. Must add the story of Robert and Lorraine vom Saal re-discovering this in Worms Cathedral, summer 2008.
family crests PRELIMINARY much work to be done.

Friedrich Heppenheimer memorial book.

Includes frontspiece engraving of Friedrich Heppenheimer (1) (2)

NOTE: I intend to add full resolution copies of the Friedrich Heppenheim frontspiece from this book so they are available for printing.

single document as pdf file

or

pages as photo album

The single document as pdf file was made with pages scanned on scanner and then converted to a pdf file using Photoshop CS2. The pdf file is a very large file (43.55 MB) and will take a long time to download.

The pages as photo album were photographed with my Nikon D300 (see below). I am experimenting with using a scanner vs. photographing on a copy stand. For this album, thumbnails are 240 x 180, and photos have been reduced to maximum 2000 wide or 1500 high.

preliminary set of scanned documents named and annotated.

NOTE: I did not complete the annotations. Information on each document is included in the file name. Hover over the document or open the document to see the file name. I will add more info to the annotations later.

These were scanned with scanner, and there are annotations on most. Renamed with date of document and sorted by date. Thumbnails are 240 x 180, and photos have been reduced to maximum 2000 wide or 1500 high. I am still deciding whether this is too large (slow download) or not large enough (larger may be needed for translating from German script).

preliminary set of photographed documents not yet sorted.

This is preliminary work not yet organized. Most of these were photographed with Nikon D300 camera on copy stand, 18-300mm lens, using camera linked directly to computer with Nikon Camera Control 2. Most were adjusted with Photoshop batch action using auto levels adjustment (indicated by AL in file name). Thumbnails are 240 x 180, and photos have been reduced to maximum 2000 wide or 1500 high. I am still deciding whether this is too large (slow download) or not large enough (larger may be needed for translating from German script).

NOTES -

I still need to add a set of photos of physical items such as the engraving plate for the wedding invitation, etc.

I need to add more info to the annotation on the set that was scanned and renamed. Info is in the revised name, but was not copied into the annotation except in the first few items.
